4th annual Chicago Mini Tango Festival: www.chicagotangofestival.com
Spice up your Spring with hot social tango dancing in Chicago. This weekend will provide you with a unique opportunity to share your love of tango, meet new people and celebrate Spring in Chicago. Featuring Three days of classes and milongas. The 2008 Festival is scheduled for April 17-19, 2009. Pre-festival workshops will also be held on Thursday, April 16, 2009. The instructors for the Chicago Mini Tango Festival include Ruben Harymbat and Enriqueta Kleinman (Buenos Aires), Gustavo Benzecry and Maria Olivera (Buenos Aires), and Ramiro Gigliotti and Elina Roldan (Buenos Aires). Djs include Vijay Namasivayam (San Francisco), Ko Tanaka (New York), Ilene Marder (Woodstock, NY), and Paul Akmajian (Albuquerque, New Mexico
The primary curriculum has been designed for the experienced dancer in mind. A separate curriculum for the more novice dancer is also available.
Instructors at the 2008 festival were: Pocho & Nely (Buenos Aires),Ruben de Pompeya (Buenos Aires), Silvina Valz & Oliver Kolker (Buenos Aires and New York), and Alicia Pons (Buenos Aires). Djs included Robin Thomas (New York), Ramji V (Ann Arbor), Robert Hauk (Portland, and Ilene Marder (Woodstock, NY).
